weekend ketchup

Monday again? I could have handled a few more weekends like this past one. Nice and relaxing! Joey and I slept more than was entirely necessary, but it's safe to say that we aren't yawning today! :)

No nephew yet... he's still hanging out in Mindy's belly. Finding it awfully cozy apparently. Tomorrow is Joey's birthday, maybe he's just waiting to make his debut then.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Joey. We're celebrating Joey's 28 great years tomorrow night with some wings and beer. Well beer for him, wings for me. :)

We did make a bit of nursery progress this weekend, despite our copious amounts of sleep. We managed to get the ceiling painted (white) and the ceiling fan up. Everyone always raises an eyebrow when we talk about painting the ceilings in our house. I can assure you if they were already white, we would not be painting them. Unfortunately, the people who lived in our house before us loved this awful shade of coffee-creamer taupe and painted all the ceilings and all the trim in this shade. Plus we think they smoked in the house, and that probably contributed to it's brownness. Either way, it constantly looked dirty, so white it now is. And the room is much brighter because of it!

The evidence of our progress, Joey with the roller:

And the finished product, though it's incredibly hard to see the ceiling or much of the fan, I can assure you it looks way better:

And lastly, I managed to get a quick "belly shot" of the growing soccer star in my belly. I realize I look like I'm 10 feet tall, but I'll try to take a better one next time around...

Finally, a few development notes for this week:
Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture.
